Maine Department of Labor Commissioner, Robert Winglass, will be in Hancock County Thursday to meet with local business leaders and visit several employers in the region.

The agenda includes a morning meeting with representatives from area chamber of commerce organizations. The commissioner is expected to outline details of workforce training reforms recently proposed by Governor LePage that aim to help workers get skills in demand by job creators. The Governor?s plan engages regional chamber of commerce organizations in convening members of the business community to identify training priorities.

Commissioner Winglass will spend the rest of the day visiting local employers to discuss labor and workforce issues. Scheduled stops include Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, Jackson Lab in Bar Harbor, and Morris Yacht in Trenton.

?As the Maine economy continues to strengthen, it is important to ensure our training and employment services are responsive to both workers and job creators,? said Winglass. ?These visits provide a unique opportunity to hear directly from employers about their workforce concerns.?
