Maine Veterans' Homes in Machias Honored with SHAPE Award by Maine Department of Labor
The Safety and Health Award for Public Employers (SHAPE) recognizes public sector employers who maintain an exemplary safety and health management system.
MACHIAS - The Maine Veterans' Home in Machias - https://mainevets.org/machias/ was recognized today for receiving the Safety and Health Award for Public Employers (SHAPE). SHAPE, given by the Maine Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Standards, recognizes public sector employers who maintain an exemplary safety and health management system.
The award was presented to Administrator Arlena Fickett at 10 a.m. at the Maine Veterans Home in Machias, by Maine Department of Labor Commissioner Laura Fortman and Bureau of Labor Standards Director Kate Burkhart.
"Acceptance into SHAPE is an achievement that distinguishes Maine Veterans' Home as a model for workplace safety and health," said Labor Commissioner Laura Fortman. "The Maine Veterans' Homes is one of 96 locations in the State of Maine to receive this award and the second of the Veterans' Homes, joining the Caribou location."
The Maine Department of Labor's Bureau of Labor Standards has workplace safety and health jurisdiction over the public sector, such as state, county, municipal, quasi-municipal, and public education employers.
