STATE AVERAGE WEEKLY WAGE
The Department of Labor's State Average Weekly Wage (SAWW) as of July 1, 2026, is $1,249.12. The SAWW is the basis for calculating maximum benefits, annual adjustments and impairment awards.
The following tables contain the information necessary to calculate annual/cost of living adjustments pursuant to Title 39-A § 212(4) and/or determine the maximum benefit level. These tables contain the state average weekly wage (SAWW), the multiplier used in the calculation of annual adjustments (if applicable), the maximum benefit level (MAX), and the 2/3 limitation on the inclusion of fringe benefits. It is necessary to know the employee's date of injury to select the appropriate table.

On May 13, 2025, the Board of Directors voted to adopt an assessment rate for insurers of 2.75% for Fiscal Year 2026 beginning on July 1, 2025. For more information, please see the Annual Assessment page.
INDEPENDENT CONTRACTORS
As of October 25, 2023, an individual who wants to create a rebuttable presumption of independent contractor status may file a statement - Independent Contractor Statement (Form WCB-267) – with the Board. The Board will no longer review or approve Predetermination Applications (WCB-266). More information is available here.
