Solid Waste Diversion Grant Program
General information
Grant program to help develop, implement, or enhance projects, programs, or activities aimed at increasing the diversion of solid waste from disposal. Eligible projects may include but are not limited to the following categories: organic waste diversion education, source reduction, upcycling of discarded materials, reuse and repair of discarded materials, and composting and digestion activities.

Grant eligibility
Program open to any Maine-based entity, including but not limited to Maine citizens, municipalities, regional organizations, businesses, retailers, schools, universities and other institutions.
In accordance with 38 M.R.S. § 2201-B, the Maine Solid Waste Diversion Grant Program, the Department may disburse grants under the program to any Maine-based public or private entity demonstrating that a proposed program, project, initiative, or activity is, in the Department's determination, likely to increase the diversion of solid waste from disposal within a particular community, municipality, or region or the State.
All regions of the State of Maine are eligible.
