Thanks to up to $500 million in federal and state funding, and the work my colleagues and I in Augusta did to advance access to high-speed internet for rural Mainers, we have a monumental opportunity to close the digital divide once and for all. Our leaders must prioritize solutions that bring broadband connectivity to communities still living without it and avoid proposals that will waste the finite funds we have or do little to address the factors driving our state's internet divide.

High energy costs and rising prices have hit Maine households hard. As state representative, my top priority has been to make sure we are helping Mainers during this difficult time. That's why I supported measures to provide relief to working people, retirees and families, including $850 direct relief payments.

The $850 direct relief checks are expected to begin hitting mailboxes this week, so I want to make sure my constituents have the eligibility information needed to qualify.

Are you missing money? If you check the state's unclaimed property database, you may find you are.

A lot of people just do not know about unclaimed property, while others have heard about it but are worried its too good to be true. As a state representative, part of my role is making sure my constituents know how to check the list and safely claim their property.

Landry bill to protect Maine firefighters from harmful chemicals is now law

AUGUSTA - A proposal by Rep. Scott Landry, D-Farmington, to help local fire departments limit firefighters' exposure to harmful chemicals is now law. Gov. Janet Mills signed the measure on Thursday.

"Firefighters are at a significantly increased risk for cancer because of the carcinogens they encounter while on the job," said Landry. "It's time that we gave them the tools they need to minimize their exposure to toxic chemicals. Firefighters respond at all hours to protect our safety, and we should be doing all we can to keep them safe, too."
