AUGUSTA - On Monday, Speaker Ryan Fecteau unveiled a bill aimed at expanding access to dental care in Maine: LD 996, An Act To Improve Dental Health Access for Maine Children and Adults with Low Incomes. This bill received support from public health experts and economists as a smart investment that would improve the health of Maine's people and save the state money.

AUGUSTA - Senate President Troy Jackson of Allagash and House Speaker Ryan Fecteau of Biddeford have announced that the Maine Legislature will convene Wednesday, April 28 at the Augusta Civic Center. The Senate proceedings will begin at 10:00 a.m.; the House proceedings will begin at 9:00 a.m.
Lawmakers are expected to take votes on bills that have come out of committee over the last month.

AUGUSTA - Rep. Vicki Doudera, D-Camden, introduced LD 759, An Act To Amend the Child Endangerment Laws To Include Certain Unauthorized Access to a Loaded Firearm, before the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee on Wednesday.
AUGUSTA - The Legislature's Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee voted 9-0 on Thursday to support a bill sponsored by the House chair of the committee, Rep. Seth Berry, D-Bowdoinham, that would ban misleading winter disconnection notices as part of the collections process.
After the bill's public hearing on April 14, Berry had said the legislation would end CMP's "shameless and dishonest harassment of customers" during the winter months.
AUGUSTA - The Legislature's Joint Standing Committee on Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry unanimously approved LD 316, An Act To Prohibit the Use of Chlorpyrifos, on Tuesday. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Vicki Doudera, D-Camden, bans the use of chlorpyrifos, an organophosphate pesticide proven to adversely affect the environment, human health and the food system.
AUGUSTA - Rep. Mo Terry, D-Gorham, introduced a bill to the Legislature's Judiciary Committee on Wednesday to extend the statute of limitations for filing a complaint to the Maine Human Rights Commission for unlawful discrimination if the complaint is based on a sexual act, sexual contact or sexual touching.
