Lawmakers approve Meyer measure to help families achieve economic security by raising TANF asset limits

AUGUSTA - The Legislature gave final approval on Monday to a measure from Rep. Michele Meyer, D-Eliot, that will empower families to build long-term economic security by increasing the amount of money they can save without losing access to benefits under the Temporary Assistance for Needy Families Program, or TANF.

Legislature advances Salisbury bill to extend line of duty death benefits for emergency responders who die by suicide

AUGUSTA - The Maine Legislature advanced a bill on Tuesday from Rep. Sue Salisbury, D-Westbrook, to support Maine's emergency responders and their loved ones by formally recognizing death by suicide as a death while in the line of duty for individuals working in emergency services.

Lawmakers approve Graham bill to support children and individuals with intellectual disabilities

AUGUSTA - The Legislature gave final approval Tuesday to a measure sponsored by Rep. Anne Graham, D-North Yarmouth that would develop a "No Eject, No Reject" policy to support children receiving behavioral health services and individuals with intellectual disabilities.

Governor signs Gramlich bill to name state butterfly as proposed by Loranger Middle School students

Gov. Janet Mills held a bill signing ceremony Wednesday for LD 239, a measure by Rep. Lori K. Gramlich, D-Old Orchard Beach, to name the Pink-edged Sulphur the state butterfly. Gramlich introduced the bill after hearing from Loranger Middle School students Oscar Stanton and Tate Graham with the idea.
