Abdi, Dhalac and Yusuf are the first Somali Americans to serve in the Maine House of Representatives.

They’re gravely concerned about the enhanced federal tax credits expiring, which have helped families across Maine access coverage through the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace.
AUGUSTA – Rep. Holly B. Stover, D-Boothbay, was named Legislative Champion by HospitalityMaine at the industry group’s annual summit on Monday. The award recognizes Stover’s work at the State House to support local hospitality businesses.
AUGUSTA –– A new bill from Rep. Dan Ankeles, D-Brunswick, could provide private well owners with greater support during and after environmental emergencies like chemical spills.
Ankeles is introducing the measure for the upcoming legislative session as a follow up to his other bills passed in response to a major toxic firefighting foam discharge on the former Brunswick Naval Air Station in August 2024.

Poppy Arford, D-Brunswick, will come together to host a food drive in support of the Mid Coast Hunger Prevention Program (MCHPP). They will be collecting donations at Saint Paul's Pleasant Street Episcopal Church in Brunswick on Friday, Nov. 21 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and at the Harpswell Town Office on Sunday, Nov. 23 from 12 to 2 p.m.
