Earlier this month, MaineCare issued supplemental payments to nine hospitals rewarding the high levels of primary care utilization for MaineCare members in their Hospital Service Areas (HSAs). The table below shows how the top eight HSAs, which include nine hospitals, surpassed the statewide average of 57.5% MaineCare members within the HSA with a primary care visit in 2023. This sub-pool, totaling $600,000 annually, supports hospitals that partner with a MaineCare Accountable Community.

Adds four new waterbodies, expands three existing advisories

AUGUSTA — The Maine Center for Disease Control and Prevention (Maine CDC) today issued updated and additional freshwater fish consumption advisories following ongoing PFAS testing of water bodies across the state.

Per the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Section 6401, all providers need to revalidate with all states they are enrolled with.

Durable Medical Equipment (DME) providers are required to revalidate their information with MaineCare every three years. The current round of revalidation began in January 2022.

The Maine CDC is raising awareness of CMV, the most common infectious cause of birth defects in the United States. About 1 out of 5 babies with congenital CMV infection will have birth defects or other long-term health problems, such as hearing loss.

See the social media toolkit, used by health care providers and individuals seeking to promote prevention of CMV. Together we can bring about more awareness to decrease the risk of pregnant women and individuals contracting CMV in Maine.

Public Review and Comment

On June 11, 2024, MaineCare held an online public forum to present the recommended draft rate methodologies, along with the rationale, for Hospital acute care, rehabilitation, and Critical Access Hospitals (CAHs). Interested parties had the opportunity to ask questions and provide public comment.

The Department will accept written comments until June 25, 2024. The Department will then respond in writing to comments with an explanation of whether and how the feedback was incorporated into the final rate determination.
