Quarter 3 Updates

The Department has retroactively updated the Physician Drug Rates effective July 1, 2024, in alignment with the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ (CMS) quarterly rate update. These new rates were implemented for billing on September 25, 2024.

In January of 2023, as part of its reimbursement reform and rate determination priorities, the Department initiated a Rate Determination Process* for Section 67, Nursing Facility Services.

As previously noticed, MaineCare and its vendor are hosting several engagement sessions with interested parties to obtain important feedback as part of the rate determination process that was initiated in June of 2024, for certain HCBS services.

Funds to help expand outreach and provide education to consumers about coverage options

AUGUSTA-- The Maine Department of Health and Human Services' (DHHS) today announced that it has received a nearly $600,000 grant to expand outreach about reproductive, childbirth, and post-pregnancy coverage options available through state health coverage. The grant will be implemented in partnership with Maine's Medicaid program, MaineCare.

Public Review & Comment 

On September 30, 2024, MaineCare held an online public meeting to present draft rates along with the rationale for certain Medicare covered Family Planning Services and LARCs. Interested parties had the opportunity to provide public comments.  

The Department will accept written comments until October 14, 2024, and respond in writing to those comments with an explanation of whether and how the feedback was incorporated into the final rate determination.
