Advanced Domestic Abuse (This Program is open to OCFS Staff and Foster & Adoptive Parents)
Maine Coalition to end Domestic Violence & Community Based DV Resource Centers
October 8, 2014 9am - 4pm
This class is a pre-requisite for the advanced training on October 22nd.
This full day training presented by the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence, the Office of Child and Family Services and Community based Domestic Abuse Resource Centers will focus on the domestic abuse survivor's experience during a child abuse assessment. Using a mock case, trainers will highlight methods/procedures that will enhance safety and encourage accountability. Participants will come to understand the choices made all around the survivor during this process. Some choices belong to the survivor and many simply impact the survivor and children. This training will focus on partnering with the non-offending parent to promote efficient, effective and child-centered outcomes. As well as, intervening with perpetrators of domestic abuse through accountability to reduce risk and prevent further harm to children and adult survivors. Participants will come to understand their role in the Coordinated Community Response to End Domestic Abuse. This training is a pre-requisite to attending a second day of training on October 22nd, "Domestic Abuse: Mapping a Perpetrator's Pattern - A New Tool from David Mandel & Associates."
