Intended Audience: Department of Health and Human Services employees, foster and adoptive parents and the staff of social service agencies providing services to clients of the Department.
What do we mean when we say we want to increase a person or families self- sufficiency? What actions by staff play a role in this dynamic? This program explores those questions and gives a problem solving framework for the case manager or other staff to use to increase participants skill of problem solving. We will explore clients' wants and needs, the importance of generating options, kinds of decision making techniques and how to be "hard on the problem and soft on the person". This approach to your work also assists when monitoring participant goals and in setting participants up for long term success.
