This training is designed for OCFS child welfare staff to gain skills and confidence in the court room. The class will be asked to prepare by studying a fake child protective case (which will be emailed to all registered trainees). Trainees will come to the training at the district court ready to participate as witnesses for a PPO (Preliminary Protection Order) hearing. Nora Sosnoff and legal interns will act as judge, AAG, defense attorneys and GAL to simulate the experience of testifying and being involved in a hearing. The training will allow for discussion of how court functions and trainees will be able to ask questions regarding the court process.
