Intended Audience: Developmental Services Case Managers, Crisis Team Members, & Agency Staff

Participants will be introduced to 34-B MRSA 5601-5610, which describes the rights of Maine citizens with intellectual disabilities and/or autism. Direct support professionals and others who support individuals with intellectual disabilities must be familiar with these rights, both to ensure they are honored and to support the person to know them. Participants will also learn about Maine's Regulations Governing Emergency Interventions and Behavioral Treatment for People with Intellectual Disabilities and/or Autism. These regulations govern the use of emergency interventions and behavioral treatment in a manner consistent with maximizing the safety, well-being, independence, and inclusion of Maine citizens with intellectual disabilities or autism.
