Become a Probation Officer

“For those who believe in redemption.” It’s not only a part of the foundational principles of the Maine Model of Corrections, but what we look for in career-minded applicants who truly want to make a difference in the lives of our clients  --- those who are seeking a second chance.

Probation Officers play a vital role in their rehabilitation and redemption. It involves investigative and protective services, case management, and supervision of adult residents referred to the Maine Department of Corrections or released to the community. The most successful PPOs are able to assess risks and needs, are decisive and independent decision-makers, are a supportive and firm counsel and peer to their assigned cases, and have a strong sense of duty, responsibility, and attention to detail on behalf of their clients.
