The U.S. Navy proposes to replace an existing marina at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Kittery, ME. Demolition of the existing structures is proposed to occur between November 9, 2026 and March 15, 2027. Demolition includes the removal of gangways, timber piles, floating docks/finger piers, anchor blocks and chains, timber access piers, and mooring cells totaling approximately 20,000 square feet (sf) of shading removal. New construction would occur during the same window the following year. Construction includes the installation of a gangway, floating docks, and mooring blocks/chains and would result in approximately 10,600 sf of shading. This action is subject to review for consistency with the enforceable policies of Maine Coastal Program under 15 CFR 930, subpart C. More information about the project.
