2026 Housing Legislation Technical Assistance Informational Sessions

The Housing Opportunity Program will hold technical assistance informational sessions throughout 2026 to assist municipalities with the implementation of recent housing legislation, including LD 1829, LD 997, and LD 427. These sessions will provide information to municipalities about recent housing legislation by covering frequently asked questions, sharing best practices, and providing opportunities for participants to ask questions. Sessions will be approximately 1.5 hours and geared toward planning board members, town staff, and planners. Technical assistance sessions will include a combination of virtual and in-person sessions.

Early 2026 sessions will focus on regions of the state with high concentrations of municipalities with an implementation deadline of July 1, 2026. Additional sessions are being scheduled for future dates in locations across the state. Virtual and in-person technical assistance will be open to any interested parties. For more information about these sessions, to inquire about scheduling a session in your area, or for information about inclement weather cancellations, please email the Housing Opportunity Program at housing.moca@maine.gov
