    In the November 2024 general election, Maine voters approved a $10,000,000 bond issue to restore historic buildings owned by governmental and nonprofit organizations.

    Governmental and non-profit organizations

    Eligibility requirements

    1. Be a non-profit or governmental Entity 

    2. Be applying for a building already listed on the National Register of Historic Places, or nominated for listing by the Commission. These buildings must be open to the general public. 

    3. Have 90-100% completed Drawings and Specs by a Maine licensed architect or engineer that have been completed within the last 5 years. 

    4. The project meets the requirements of the Preservation and Restoration terms defined by the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards. More information is included in the HCBG Manual.
