Efficiency Maine Incentives - Municipal Program
General information
Maine municipalities are often faced with budget pressures and high operating costs to maintain older municipal buildings that house town offices, public works garages, fire stations, and wastewater treatment facilities. Energy efficiency is a great way for municipalities to save energy and money, and improve comfort, safety, and maintenance costs in the process. Efficiency Maine offers incentives for energy efficiency upgrades, including heat pumps, lighting retrofits, electric vehicles, and other energy-savings projects at non-residential facilities.
Efficiency Maine offers commercial and industrial customers no-cost, no-obligation virtual consultations. Please visit this link to learn more: https://www.efficiencymaine.com/business-customer-consultation/

Grant eligibility
All non-residential facilities are eligible for Efficiency Maine’s commercial and industrial incentives. Additionally, Efficiency Maine occasionally issues targeted incentive funding opportunity notices that are limited to specific customer and project types, such as municipalities; schools and higher education facilities; manufacturing and industrial facilities; multifamily buildings with three or more units; and mixed-use buildings (commercial/residential buildings with at least one commercial meter).
Most of Efficiency Maine’s commercial and industrial incentives require preapproval before purchase. Additionally, certain (“prescriptive”) incentives must be implemented by an Efficiency Maine Qualified Partner to be eligible. For a list of Qualified Partners, please visit the following webpage: Find a Qualified Maine Energy Partner | Efficiency Maine.
All Maine facilities are eligible as long as they are served by a Maine utility.
