Representative Holly Stover
  Representing: Boothbay, Boothbay Harbor, Edgecomb, Southport, Westport Island and part of South Bristol

Rep. Holly Stover is serving her second term in the Maine House.

Stover began her career in the non-profit sector, focusing on at-risk children, youth and families and overseeing residential programs and a homeless shelter. She went on to join the state Department of Behavioral and Developmental Services, now the Department of Health and Human Services, working in program and policy development and statewide partnerships with non-profits.

Stover retired after 23 years of service and is now the executive director of Lincoln County Dental and the program director of the Addiction Outreach Program of the Boothbay Region Community Resource Council.

Stover was born and raised in Boothbay and attended local public schools.

Rep. Stover is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services and serves as House chair of the Government Oversight Committee.

Brief description of the subject matter handled by the committee: Department of Health and Human Services; Parts of the Dirigo Health Act, including the State Health Plan, the Maine Quality Forum and Advisory Council on Health Systems Development; Maine Health Data Organization; health and medical data; MaineCare, Medicaid, and Medicare Part D; children’s welfare and mental health services; childcare; public health and disease control; tobacco addiction prevention and control; sale of tobacco; prescription drugs; health care facilities and health care workforce; social and rehabilitation services; state health system planning; substance abuse; mental health; developmental and other disabilities; poverty, homelessness and public assistance; home and community-based long-term care; aging, elderly and disability issues; medical use of marijuana; maternal and infant health; and nursing facilities and residential care.

Brief description of the subject matter handled by the committee: The mission of the Joint Legislative Government Oversight Committee is to oversee program evaluation and government accountability matters in State government. The Committee seeks to ensure that public funds are expended for intended purposes, and that programs and activities are effectively, efficiently and economically managed. The Committee accomplishes this mission by conducting public inquiries and directing the Office of Program Evaluation and Government Accountability to conduct independent, objective reviews of State agencies and programs and other entities receiving public funds or expending private monies for public purposes.
