Representative Stephen W. Moriarty

Representative Steve Moriarty is serving his second non-consecutive term in the Maine House of Representatives.

Prior to holding his current position, he served on the Cumberland Town Council for 21 years where he was elected council chair 7 times. Suince January 2015 he has been a member of the Cumberland Planning Board, and was elected chair three times.

Steve was raised in Hallowell and Auburn, and attended Bowdoin College. After graduation Steve joined the Army. Upon completion of his military service, Steve returned to Maine to attend the University of Maine School of Law, receiving his degree in 1978.

Steve and his wife Pam have lived in Cumberland since 1983 and have two grown daughters and one grandson.

Brief description of the subject matter handled by the committee: Business regulation, including automobile and fuel sales; retail pricing; franchising; advertising; real estate practices; professional and occupational licensing; consumer protection; Finance Authority of Maine (FAME), including student assistance programs at Finance Authority of Maine; economic development; economic planning and development agencies; venture capital and trade programs; opportunity zones; import competition; product marketing; research and development; technology commercialization; technology transfers; tourism; and defense facility conversion.
