AUGUSTA - A bill sponsored by Rep. Traci Gere, D-Kennebunkport, which gives MaineHousing and local housing authorities the first option to purchase three courthouses in York County and redevelop them into much-needed housing, is now law after being signed by Gov. Janet Mills last week.
AUGUSTA - The Legislature's Joint Select Committee on Housing has voted to advance legislation sponsored by Rep. Melanie Sachs, D-Freeport, that would encourage smart housing development in Maine by updating the state's growth management program law.
Rep. Traci Gere is serving her third term in the Maine House, representing Kennebunkport and parts of Kennebunk and Biddeford. She is the House chair of the Legislature’s newly formed Housing and Economic Development Committee. Her areas of policy focus include housing, sustainable economic and community development, workforce development and apprenticeships.
