While businesses are struggling to find employees, Mainers are also struggling to pay for housing, groceries and child care all necessities that help keep workers in the labor market. Fay introduces bill to support veterinarians and prohibit noncompete agreements

AUGUSTA - Rep. Jessica Fay, D-Raymond, introduced legislation Thursday before the Legislature's Labor and Housing Committee that would prohibit an employer from requiring or permitting a veterinarian to enter into a noncompete agreement, unless they have an ownership interest in the practice. The bill would also prohibit a court from enforcing a noncompete agreement that was signed prior to the date the bill would become law.

Fay bill to amend laws governing water supply protection funds receives unanimous committee support

AUGUSTA - The Legislature's Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee voted last week to advance a bill sponsored by Rep. Jessica Fay, D-Raymond. LD 211, An Act to Amend the Laws Governing Water Supply Protection Funds, would allow water utilities to partner with conservation organizations to preserve land in order to protect water quality for their ratepayers.
