Rep. Dan Shagoury worked as a legislative aide in the State House for 19 years before recently retiring and running for office. He is currently serving his second term in the House.
An active community member, he served for 15 years on the board of the Hubbard Free Library, nine years on the SAD 16 School Board as a representative for Hallowell and eight years on the board of directors for the nonprofit Consumers for Affordable Health Care.
Shagoury graduated from Colby College with a bachelor’s degree in history. He then studied international relations at George Washington University in D.C. before returning to Maine.
He lives in Hallowell with his wife, Juliet. They have two adult sons.
