92 state lawmakers sign letter pressing Trump administration on LIHEAP firings

AUGUSTA – Ninety-two state lawmakers have signed a letter spearheaded by Rep. Tavis Hasenfus, D-Readfield, in response to the Trump administration’s Tuesday firing of the entire workforce at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services responsible for administering the Low-Income Heating Assistance Program (LIHEAP).

Cloutier introduces legislation to help address the knowledge gap around perimenopause and menopause

AUGUSTA – Rep. Kristen Cloutier, D-Lewiston, presented legislation at a public hearing before the Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee, on Friday that would equip those who menstruate with the knowledge they need to navigate menopause effectively and make informed decisions about their bodies and health. 

Lawmakers unanimously advance Meyer bill to increase funding for domestic violence resource centers

AUGUSTA – The Legislature’s Health and Human Services Committee gave unanimous approval Wednesday to a bill sponsored by Rep. Michele Meyer, D-Eliot, to increase funding for domestic violence response and prevention services in Maine.

LD 875 would provide an additional $4 million in funding annually to Maine’s network of eight regional domestic violence resource centers.
