AUGUSTA - Legislation to support and improve municipal recycling programs and decrease property taxes, LD 1541, advanced out of the Joint Standing Committee on Environment and Natural Resources with bipartisan support on Monday.
AUGUSTA - The Legislature's Health and Human Services Committee voted unanimously on Friday to advance a bipartisan bill sponsored by Rep. Kristen Cloutier, D-Lewiston, that would establish the Family Caregiver Grant Pilot Program. If passed into law, the proposed legislation will give certified family caregivers the opportunity to receive $2,000.
AUGUSTA - Today, the state of Maine received a Aa2 bond rating from Moody's Investor Service. The news comes after Fridays strong S&P bond rating indicating the state of Maine is recovering from the pandemic, showing signs of strong financial health.

Richard Evans, D-Dover-Foxcroft, to make it more efficient for people to find out if they qualify for free or reduced-cost health coverage was unanimously endorsed by the Legislature's Health Coverage, Insurance and Financial Services Committee on Tuesday. The vote was 13-0.
AUGUSTA- The Maine House gave its initial approval Wednesday to a bill defining intentional balloon releases as an act of littering. LD 1023, sponsored by Rep. Genevieve McDonald, D-Stonington, addresses an issue that fishermen have wrestled with under the radar for years. The vote was 83-64.
AUGUSTA - The Legislature approved a bill Wednesday that would require telephone utilities to provide customers with services to reduce the volume of calls received from automated telephone calling devices, also known as spam calls or robocalls.
