Rep. Sean Faircloth is serving his fifth nonconsecutive term in the Maine Legislature. He represents Veazie and parts of Bangor, Orono and Brewer, and is a member of the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee.
Faircloth has previously served as a State Senator, Maine Assistant House Majority Leader, and mayor of Bangor. As mayor, Faircloth initiated the Maine Multicultural Center to welcome new Americans to Maine. He also started the Maine Discovery Museum, leading the multimillion dollar project credited with revitalizing downtown Bangor. Additionally, he has served as executive director of Together Place Peer Run Recovery Center, and in the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in an Alaskan indigenous Yupik community.
Faircloth is the author of Attack of the Theocrats! How the Religious Right Harms Us All - and What We Can Do About It (2012), and The Enchanted Globe (2016), a children’s world geography fantasy adventure that begins and ends in Maine.
A University of Notre Dame graduate, Faircloth holds a J.D. from University of California Law, San Francisco. He has served in private practice and as a Maine Assistant Attorney General.
He lives with his wife in Bangor.
