Supica named House chair of Legislature's Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee

AUGUSTA - Rep. Laura Supica, D-Bangor, will serve as House chair of the Legislature's Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee. Having served on the committee for two years, Supica was appointed by House Speaker Rachel Talbot Ross.

The committee oversees policy regarding liquor laws, lottery, off-track betting, election laws, governmental ethics, Department of Defense and the Maine National Guard.

"We tackle wide-ranging issues on the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee and I am incredibly proud of the ways we have helped move Maine forward on a number of those fronts," said Supica. "From supporting our veterans to ensuring the security of our elections and fairness in our state's policies around gambling, liquor and cannabis, the committee's work is integral to our state's wellbeing. It is truly an honor to take on this role as chair, where I will continue to support policies that make Maine a more just, equitable and prosperous state."

Supica is serving her second term in the Maine House and represents District 22, part of Bangor.
