Salisbury accepted to Council of State Governments' New Legislative Leaders Academy

AUGUSTA - Rep. Sue Salisbury, D-Westbrook, has been accepted to the Council of State Governments' New Legislative Leaders Academy which will gather officials that have been newly elected to leadership positions and facilitate discussions about leadership best practices in a nonpartisan environment.

The academy is dedicated to helping legislators advance their priorities and build connections with leaders across the country. It will take place on June 14-16.

"As a first-time chair of the Legislature's Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee, I am thrilled to have this bipartisan opportunity to connect with new leaders from other states," said Salisbury. "I am honored to have been selected for this program and I look forward to implementing what I learn in my work to address Maine's EMS workforce shortage and other critical issues facing our communities."

Last year, Salisbury attended the Council of State Governments 2022 Eastern Leadership Academy, which brought together 30 state officials for four days of intensive training with experts in communications, government and policy development. The program included lectures from award-winning faculty from the University of Pennsylvania and involved hands-on workshops in leadership styles, civil discourse, social media, the current political climate and more.

Salisbury is serving her second term in the Maine House and represents District 128, part of Westbrook. She serves as House chair of the Legislature's Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety.
