Sachs earns spot in 2022 Legislative Energy Horizon Institute

AUGUSTA - Rep. Melanie Sachs, D-Freeport, has been accepted to participate in the 2022 Legislative Energy Horizon Institute, a policy program that educates state legislators and policymakers on the North American energy infrastructure and delivery system.

Sachs was selected for one of only 40 available spots in the program nationally. Graduates will receive a certificate on energy policy planning from the University of Idaho.

"I'm honored to have been selected for this program," said Sachs. "The Legislative Energy Horizon Institute has been hailed as one of the best legislative policy education programs in the nation. Sound energy policy is critical to Maine's future, and I'm excited to bring this knowledge back to work for Maine people."

Sachs serves on the Legislature's Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee, as well as the Taxation Committee. Her bill, LD 1694, An Act to Create the Maine Redevelopment Land Bank Authority, recently won Project of the Year from the Maine Association of Planners. She is serving her first term in the Maine House of Representatives and represents Freeport and part of Pownal.
