AUGUSTA - Rep. Melanie Sachs, D-Freeport, has been appointed to the Building, Infrastructure and Housing Working Group of the Maine Climate Council.
The Maine Climate Council was established in 2019 after the passage of LD 1679. The working group is responsible for evaluating and recommending strategies to reduce infrastructure-related greenhouse gas emissions to help mitigate and protect against the impacts of climate change. The working group's recommended strategies were shared with the Maine Climate Council in June 2020 and helped guide the Councils recently published Four-Year Plan for Climate Action.
"I am honored to serve on the Building, Infrastructure and Housing Working Group," said Sachs. "While serving in municipal government, I worked extensively to weatherize Maine's older housing stock, improve efficiency measures and transition buildings to cleaner heating and cooling systems. I am excited to help move Maines Climate Action Plan forward as we tackle these challenging issues together."
Sachs, who is serving in her first term in the Maine House of Representatives, represents Freeport and part of Pownal. She serves as a member of the Legislatures Taxation Committee.
