AUGUSTA – Rep. Morgan Rielly, D-Westbrook, was named House Chair of Maine’s Citizen Trade Policy Commission (CTPC) last Thursday. His appointment by House Speaker Ryan Fecteau, D-Biddeford, was confirmed Tuesday by the Legislature.
“Maintaining a healthy relationship with Maine’s trading partners is crucial to building a strong and sustainable economy, especially now that the federal government is putting our best interests at risk by starting a series of trade wars with many of our allies, like Canada. I am honored to have been appointed to the CTPC and I look forward to beginning our work.”
The CTPC was created in 2003 to assess and monitor the legal and economic impacts of trade agreements on state and local laws, to provide a mechanism for citizens and legislators to voice their concerns and recommendations, and to make policy recommendations designed to protect Maine’s businesses from any negative impact of trade agreements.
Rielly is serving his third term in the Maine House of Representatives and is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Marine Resources and the Joint Standing Committee on Environment and Natural Resources. He represents a portion of Westbrook.
