Rielly to hold press conference on bill to create the Maine Service Fellows Program

AUGUSTA - Rep. Morgan Rielly, D-Westbrook, will host a virtual press conference to announce new legislation, LD 1010, An Act To Establish the Maine Service Fellows Program, on Wednesday, April 7 at 9:00 a.m.

The Maine Service Fellows Program offers a solution to retaining Maine's recent graduates by offering them opportunities to develop career skills while remaining in state. Fellows will work in rural communities that have proposed recovery project plans to address local needs, including, but not limited to, projects focused on the economic fallout and ongoing issues stemming from the COVID-19 pandemic. Maine Service Fellows will be paid a living wage for their work and provided with a partial student loan reimbursement upon completion of their service.

Following the press conference, Rielly will present the bill in a public hearing before the State and Local Government Committee. The public hearing will be livestreamed here.
