Reps. Moonen, Gramlich respond to Governor Mills’ State of the Budget Address

House Majority Leader Moonen and Assitant Majority Leader Gramlich

AUGUSTA – Following tonight’s State of the Budget Address by Governor Janet Mills, House Majority Leader Matt Moonen, D-Portland, and Assistant House Majority Leader Lori K. Gramlich, D-Old Orchard Beach, released the following statements:

House Majority Leader Matt Moonen:

“Tonight, Governor Mills outlined her vision for a balanced two-year budget, which includes maintaining many critical investments in Maine families and communities in areas like public education, health care and housing,” said Rep. Moonen. “Throughout our state, working families are struggling with a rising cost of living, which is making it harder for them to pay their bills and make ends meet. House Democrats are looking forward to working collaboratively to craft a budget that maintains our core commitments and truly makes life better for Mainers.”

Assistant Majority Leader Lori K. Gramlich:

“During this evening’s address, Governor Mills offered a thoughtful approach to the upcoming biennial budget and the current challenges facing state government and the people of Maine,” said Rep. Gramlich. “Her proposal to better prepare Maine homes and businesses for extreme weather will help make real progress for coastal communities like Old Orchard Beach that were devastated by last winter’s storms. The policies she outlined to strengthen Maine’s behavioral health care system for youth in our state are important steps that will go a long way to ensuring Maine’s kids get the care they need and deserve.”
