HALLOWELL - Today, Rep. Anne Graham, D-North Yarmouth, and Rep. Dan Shagoury, D-Hallowell, presented a joint resolution raising awareness about mental health to Executive Director Jennifer Thompson and Hannah Longley of NAMI Maine and Executive Director Adam Bloom-Paicopolos of the Alliance for Addiction and Mental Health Services.
Graham and Shagoury both serve as members of the Legislature's Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services.
"The folks at NAMI Maine and the Alliance provide critical support and resources to Mainers experiencing mental health challenges," said Graham. "Their dedication, compassion and commitment to healing have saved countless lives across the state and inspired me to introduce this joint resolution back in May recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month."
"As events of the last year have reminded us, it is really critical to raise awareness about mental health issues and better ensure that folks know where to get help when they need it, said Shagoury. NAMI Maine is a great resource for getting people connected with the help they need."
The joint resolution was passed by the Maine House of Representatives in May and officially recognizes May as Mental Health Awareness Month.
