AUGUSTA – On May 1, the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future announced that Durham and Topsham have been selected as recipients of a Community Action Grant award from the Community Resilience Partnership.
Durham will receive an award of $80,000 to be used for the town’s open space plan and conservation strategy. Topsham will receive an award of nearly $70,000 to be used for the town’s Streets for People initiative.
Rep. Kilton Webb, D-Durham, released the following statement applauding the funding:
“I am pleased that both Durham and Topsham have been selected to receive Community Action Grant awards. In Durham, we will have more funding to strengthen our open space plan to enhance quality of life and sustainability by protecting scenic, natural and historic landscapes while conserving habitats, working lands and natural and cultural resources. In Topsham, community members will benefit from funding that will enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety and connectivity.”
This award is part of $8 million in this round of grant funding to help Maine communities protect people, businesses and infrastructure from flooding, storm surge and other climate effects. The funding, which was approved by the Legislature in the May 2024 supplemental budget, will support projects in 166 communities throughout the state.

Webb is serving his first term in the Maine House and represents House District 98, which includes Durham, Pownal and portions of Lisbon, Bowdoin and Topsham. He serves on the Legislature's Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee.
