Rep. Sinclair applauds Community Action Grant funding for Resilient Bath program

AUGUSTA – On May 1, the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future announced that the City of Bath has been selected as a recipient of a Community Action Grant award from the Community Resilience Partnership.

Bath will receive an award of $79,650 to be used to reduce the impact of climate change and invest in clean energy solutions. This includes creating energy efficient buildings and transportation, increasing public transit, reducing waste and improving preparedness for extreme weather events.

Rep. David Sinclair, D-Bath, released the following statement applauding the funding:

“I am incredibly excited that the City of Bath was awarded a Community Action Grant to boost the Resilient Bath program,” said Rep. Sinclair. “As climate change continues to destabilize our coastal communities, this funding will help mitigate negative impacts to the changing climate and help build a safer, stronger community. I want to thank the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future for awarding our community this grant, which will create a premier program to build a more resilient Bath.”

This award is part of $8 million in this round of grant funding to help Maine communities protect people, businesses and infrastructure from flooding, storm surge and other climate effects. The funding, which was approved by the Legislature in the May 2024 supplemental budget, will support projects in 166 communities throughout the state.

The full list of projects can be found here.

Rep. David Sinclair is serving in his second term in the Maine House and represents the City of Bath. He is a member of the Judiciary Committee.
