Rep. Montell applauds Community Action Grant funding for Gardiner

AUGUSTA – On May 1, the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future announced that Gardiner has been selected as a recipient of a Community Action Grant award from the Community Resilience Partnership.

Gardiner will receive an award of $75,000 to be used for heat pump installations in municipal buildings.

Rep. Karen Montell, D-Gardiner, released the following statement applauding the funding:

“I am incredibly pleased that the City of Gardiner will be receiving funding to improve the heating and cooling systems in our municipal buildings, like our city hall, which are frequented by many of us on a regular basis. These upgrades will make our buildings more energy-efficient and lower long-term costs.”

This award is part of $8 million in this round of grant funding to help Maine communities protect people, businesses and infrastructure from flooding, storm surge and other climate effects. The funding, which was approved by the Legislature in the May 2024 supplemental budget, will support projects in 166 communities throughout the state.

The full list of projects can be found here.

Montell is serving her second term in the Maine House of Representatives and serves as a member of the Transportation Committee.
