Southwest Harbor will receive an award of $74,500 to be used for emergency preparedness, access to public EV charging stations and community resilience.

Stonington will receive an award of $80,000 to be used for updating and revising the town’s 2018 Comprehensive Plan with a focus on working waterfronts, climate resilience and transportation.

Tremont will receive an award of $80,000 to be used to implement the town’s resilience plan.

Jointly, the towns of Brooklin, Castine, Sedgwick and Surry will receive an award of $177,985 to hire a Climate Resilience Coordinator to serve all nine Blue Hill Peninsula towns in achieving their Maine Won’t Wait climate action goals.

Rep. Holly Eaton, D-Deer Isle, released the following statement applauding the funding:

“I am pleased to hear that several communities in House District 15 have received Community Action Grant awards through the Community Resilience Partnership. These grants will fund important projects that strengthen local infrastructure and prepare us for future climate impacts. I am grateful for the continued investment in the resilience and sustainability of our coastal communities, and I applaud the hard work and forward-thinking efforts of our town leaders and stakeholders.”

This award is part of $8 million in this round of grant funding to help Maine communities protect people, businesses and infrastructure from flooding, storm surge and other climate effects. The funding, which was approved by the Legislature in the May 2024 supplemental budget, will support projects in 166 communities throughout the state.
