Rep. Dodge applauds Community Action Grant funding for Belfast and Northport

AUGUSTA – On May 1, the Governor’s Office of Policy Innovation and the Future announced that Belfast and Northport have each been selected to receive a Community Action Grant award from the Community Resilience Partnership.

Belfast will receive an award of $48,600 to be used for the Belfast Harbor Master Building Modernization project.

Northport will receive an award of $75,000 for shoreline stabilization, landscape architecture and project management in Bayview Park.

Rep. Jan Dodge, D-Belfast, released the following statement applauding the funding:

“These grants will go a long way for Belfast and Northport to protect our natural resources and working waterfront for future generations. Our coastal communities are increasingly at risk from the impacts of climate change, so I am especially grateful to the Mills Administration and our town leaders for their forward-thinking efforts.”

This award is part of $8 million in this round of grant funding to help Maine communities protect people, businesses and infrastructure from flooding, storm surge and other climate effects. The funding, which was approved by the Legislature in the May 2024 supplemental budget, will support projects in 166 communities throughout the state.

The full list of projects can be found here.

Dodge is serving her fourth term in the Maine House and represents Belfast, Belmont and Northport. She is a member of the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee.
