Millett, advocates to call for action on climate change

AUGUSTA - Rep. Rebecca Millett, D-Cape Elizabeth, and supporters of a measure calling for action on climate change will hold a press conference in the State House Welcome Center tomorrow, Jan. 18, at noon.

The Joint Resolution, sponsored by Millett, calls on Congress to support a fossil fuel non-proliferation treaty. The Maine House is expected to take up the measure tomorrow.

"As our state sees increasingly extreme weather events and the devastation that goes with them, it is clear that climate change is here, and we cannot afford to delay action any longer," said Millett. "It's time for the federal government to fully commit to achieving net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and for the United States to lead the world in taking on climate issues head on."
