AUGUSTA – Rep. Kristi Mathieson, D-Kittery, has been appointed to serve as House chair of the Legislature’s Health Coverage, Insurance and Financial Services Committee (HCIFS).
“It is an honor to serve as the HCIFS Committee House chair,” said Mathieson. “As a health care professional, I know how critical our work is. Too often, I hear from patients about their difficulties navigating the health care system while experiencing health issues. We need to do more to make health care more accessible, and I will continue to work hard to strengthen our state’s insurance and health coverage services to support all Mainers.”
Mathieson, who has served on the committee for four years, was appointed chair by House Speaker Ryan Fecteau. The HCIFS Committee oversees policy related to banking, financial institutions, insurance, prescription drugs and the State Employee Health Commission.
Mathieson is serving her third term in the Maine House representing part of Kittery.
