AUGUSTA - Today, Rep. Anne-Marie Mastraccio, D-Sanford, welcomed Sgt. Colleen Adams of Sanford and her colleagues to the State House. Sgt. Adams was named Maine's winner for the USA Today's 2024 Women of the Year list, an honor given to women who make a difference in their communities every day in every state.
"Sgt. Adams makes our community a better place to live," said Mastraccio. "We are lucky to have such an inspiring and dedicated individual serving in this capacity. It was truly an honor to welcome her to the State House this morning to celebrate her accomplishments."
Adams is the community outreach officer for Sanford and supervises the Sanford Police Department's mental health unit. Through that role, she works with people struggling with substance use disorder and other personal crises, as well as people experiencing homelessness.
