AUGUSTA - Rep. Anne-Marie Mastraccio, D-Sanford, will serve as a member of the Legislature's Government Oversight Committee (GOC) and the Health Coverage, Insurance and Financial Services (HCIFS) Committee. Having previously served as a member of the HCIFS Committee and as House chair of GOC, Mastraccio was appointed by Speaker Rachel Talbot Ross to serve on them again in the 131st Legislature.
"It is an honor to again serve on the Government Oversight Committee and the Health Coverage, Insurance and Financial Services Committee," said Mastraccio. "Both committees are critical to the proper functioning of our government and our communities by holding our government and financial services accountable, ensuring that public funds are spent responsibly and as intended, that programs are administered effectively and that our health insurance system works for as many Mainers as possible. We certainly have work to do to improve all of these systems, and I am looking forward to digging into these complex and challenging issues in the coming months."
The HCIFS Committee oversees policy regarding health insurance coverage, banking, credit unions, the Bureau of Consumer Protection, mortgage lending, foreclosure prevention and mutual funds.
The GOC oversees program evaluation and government accountability matters in state government. The committee conducts public inquiries and directs the Office of Program Evaluation and Government Accountability to conduct independent, objective reviews of state agencies and programs and other entities receiving public funds or expending private monies for public purposes.
Mastraccio is serving her fifth non-consecutive term in the Maine House and represents District 142, which includes parts of Sanford and Springvale.
