AUGUSTA - Rep. Raegan F. LaRochelle, D-Augusta, was sworn into office on Wednesday by Gov. Janet Mills after defeating Republican James Orr in a special election on November 2, 2021. LaRochelle now serves House District 86, the seat previously held by Rep. Justin Fecteau, who resigned in the spring.
"I am deeply grateful to the people of Augusta for allowing me to represent them in the Maine House," said LaRochelle. "I look forward to getting to work alongside the Augusta delegation, other legislators and Gov. Mills this upcoming legislative session to serve the needs of our community."
LaRochelle grew up in Augusta and is an integral part of the community. She currently serves on the Augusta City Council, the Kennebec Valley YMCA board of directors and has served as a commissioner and chairperson of the Augusta Housing Authority. She is also the owner of two Augusta-based businesses and is the mother of two. She was born and raised in Augusta and graduated from Cony High School, Bowdoin College and the Yale School of Management.
"We are thrilled to have Rep. LaRochelle join the House Democratic team," said House Majority Leader Michelle Dunphy, D-Old Town. "She has worked exceptionally hard, has a valuable background in economic development and will be a great addition to our caucus."
The Representative will begin her duties in the Maine House immediately and will be assigned to a legislative committee when the Legislature reconvenes in January.
