Graham accepted to the NCSL Child Welfare Fellows Academy

AUGUSTA - Rep. Anne Graham, D-North Yarmouth, has been accepted into the National Conference of State Legislature's (NCSL) Child Welfare Fellows Academy for the June 2023 session.

The program provides legislators and legislative staff a rare opportunity to focus intensively on the prevention of child maltreatment in state child welfare systems. Fellows will engage in thoughtful policy discussions, learn from nationally recognized experts, connect with peers from other states and receive technical assistance from NCSL.

"I care deeply about the health and wellbeing of all Mainers, and especially our children," said Graham. "I am honored to have been accepted to this program and look forward to connecting with folks from around the country. This experience will help inform my work as a member of the Health and Human Services Committee so that we can better address the needs of Maines child welfare system."

This year, NCSL's Child Welfare Fellows will focus on the upstream prevention of child maltreatment. The program is designed to provide educational support and technical assistance to participants with an interest in child welfare.

The program will take place over the course of two in-person meetings, the first in Nashville, Tennessee from June 25 27 and the second in Denver, Colorado from Sept. 18 20. There will also be online webinars on July 20 and Aug. 24.

Rep. Anne Graham is serving her third non-consecutive term in the Maine House of Representatives and is a member of the Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services. She represents the community members of North Yarmouth and Gray.
