AUGUSTA - Rep. Drew Gattine, D-Westbrook, was appointed by House Speaker Rachel Talbot Ross to serve as a member of the Legislature's Joint Standing Committee on Appropriations and Financial Affairs as well as the newly-formed Joint Select Committee on Housing.
Gattine, who previously served in the Maine House of Representatives for four terms, is returning to the Appropriations Committee, which oversees the state budget as well as fiscal policy, federal funds allocations, collective bargaining funding and financial evaluation of state government agencies. The Joint Select Committee on Housing will address the need for affordable and accessible housing throughout the state.
"I am proud to be back in the Maine House of Representatives, now serving the people of Saco, Scarborough and Westbrook," said Gattine. "Over the next two years, these committees will do important work funding the critical needs of Maine people and finding solutions to the affordable housing crisis. I have met with many community members, and I know that high costs, especially when it comes to housing, are a top concern. I am excited to roll up my sleeves and get to work."
Gattine is serving his fifth non-consecutive term in the House, and represents the residents of House District 126.
