AUGUSTA - Rep. Holly Eaton, D-Deer Isle, has been appointed to serve on the Department of Marine Resources Zone C Lobster Management Policy Council by Speaker of the House Rachel Talbot Ross, D-Portland, and Senate President Troy Jackson, D-Allagash.
Zone C encompasses the towns of Surry, Blue Hill, Brooklin, Sedgwick, Sargentville, Brooksville, Little Deer Isle, Deer Isle, Cape Rosier, Eagle Island, Stonington, Isle Au Haut, North Haven, Vinalhaven, Matinicus and Criehaven.
"Protecting and supporting Maine's lobster industry is a top priority of mine," said Eaton. "Ensuring that current and future generations can continue to earn a living from Maine's coastal waters is not only important for our states economy-the working waterfront is a way of life for our coastal communities. I am excited for the opportunity to take part in this work."
Established in 1996, the Lobster Management Policy Council advises the Commissioner of Marine Resources on matters of interest to the lobster industry.
Eaton is serving her first term in the Legislature and is a member of the Marine Resources Committee. She represents Brooklin, Deer Isle, Frenchboro, Marshall Island, Southwest Harbor, Stonington, Swan's Island, Tremont, Eagle Island Township, Isle au Haut and Vinalhaven
