Berry issues statement on CMP solar upgrade claims

AUGUSTA - Rep. Seth Berry, D-Bowdoinham, House chair of the Legislature's Energy, Utilities and Technology Committee, issued the following statement in response to Central Maine Powers claims regarding solar projects and capacity upgrades:

"CMPs latest actions profoundly damage Maines newfound 'open for business reputation for renewable energy investments. When Governor Paul LePage moved the goalposts and chased out offshore wind investors, he at least had the courtesy to do it before they had committed hundreds of millions of dollars.

"If we have any hope of meeting our climate goals, Maine must have a utility that is a true partner in making smart, proactive and affordable investments in our electrical grid - not making the biggest buck it can on large transmission projects the state does not want."

Berry represents House District 55: Bowdoin, Bowdoinham, Swan Island and most of Richmond. He previously served from 2006-2014, the final two years as House majority leader, and returned to the House in 2016.
