Bangor legislators earn highest score for supporting state employees

AUGUSTA - The four Democratic state representatives serving Bangor, Reps. Barbara Cardone, Joseph Perry, Sr., Amy Roeder and Laura Supica, each received a 100% rating on votes to support state workers, according to a recent scorecard released by the Maine State Employees Association, Local 1989 of the Service Employees International Union (MSEA-SEIU).

"Supporting the health, well-being and livelihood of Maine's workforce is a no-brainer to me," said Supica. "That's why I supported legislation this session that makes strides in ensuring Maine workers receive fair wages and benefits and have good working conditions. I am proud to be recognized for these efforts and will continue to advocate for our workers in the coming months."

The member-run union group scored legislators' votes on key bills related to state workers from the first session of the 130th Legislature, including the Back-to-Basics Budget, funding collective bargaining agreements with executive branch employees, binding arbitration and the two-year state budget.

Cardone is serving her third term in the Maine House and is a member of the Appropriations and Financial Affairs Committee. She represents District 127, part of Bangor.

Perry is serving his sixth non-consecutive term in the Maine House and represents District 124, which includes a portion of Bangor and a portion of Orono. He serves on the Taxation Committee.

Roeder is serving her first term in the Maine House of Representatives and represents District 125, which includes a portion of Bangor. She serves on the Labor and Housing Committee.

Supica is serving her first term in the Maine House of Representatives and represents District 126, part of Bangor. She sits on the Veterans and Legal Affairs Committee.
